Stinky Tuesday

Huh. What shall I complain about today? :) Really, I'm not a complainer, although you'd never know it the last few days! I'm probably the most positive person you'll ever meet. In your life! I'm not sure where this is coming from!

Well, we woke up this morning and for some reason the dogs were stinky. Now, please understand, my dogs are very rarely smelly. We give them baths usually twice a year. And they are not happy about it, even at only twice a year. People comment on how soft and beautiful their coats are, and that they DON'T SMELL. I practically shove friends and love ones against the wall to make them promise me they would tell me if my house smelled like stinky dogs. Either these people are really scared of me, or my dogs don't smell.

So what happened this morning? I'm walking in to my office, hesitating in the doorway, detecting a faint odour de unusual. I immediately think, oh, is that me??? Embarrassing. But no. After a brief whiff of myself, and thinking, not me, I turn on my computer, sit down with a steaming cup of coffee, and there it is again. I turn, and there is dear Willy Wilson, tail wagging, so happy to bring in the new morning with me. "Hey Buddy!" sniff, sniff. (Usually it's him sniffing me, but on this particular morning, it's me sniffing him). "Where have you been? You stink!" Head cocked momentarily, I receive a big kiss from Wilson. "You stink WeeWee, but you're a really sweet boy!"

Upon further discernment, I discover that Shasta is smelling less than her lovely self as well.

Keep in mind that the temperature is only reaching 60* here in the heat of the day. How can I take them outside and run a cold hose over those poor little doggie bodies? The bathtub? No, I've tried that before. It worked well when Willy was a wee pup, but he freaks out at a harsh word! And he's too big to try to keep in a bathtub! We need to find a self serve doggie wash.

We used to go to one when we lived in Santa Cruz, CA, Shampoochez. Loved that place! Lots of people did and the price kept going up and up. It was totally worth it. And it was today as well at Hap-e-dog, to a point. That point being I didn't have to bathe them in my tub. There was only one tub, so the other dog had to wait in a cage. Well, Wilson was indignant!
The water never got quite warm enough, although I understand the possibility of a lawsuit for coffee that is hot (McDonalds), I mean, water that is too hot for dogs. But the hair dryer was cold as well. Hello people! Wet dog = cold here!
Long story, short, I have the most wonderful smelling pooches this evening in the whole world! :)

Ha. I'd never have thought of that. A dog bathing service. But then I don't own a dog. Glad you've got smell-free pooches again.

Ohhh!!! I am so jealous...a public doggie bath???!!! My two are definitely needing that right NOW! Tomorrow, thank goodness, Lucy gets to visit the groomer. ;^)
Desi will have to wait until next week or so. I may have to give him a bath.
Your dogs are GORGEOUS!!!
;^)

I felt like I was right there with you when you described these moments! Love the photos!!!! You didn't mention why they were so stinky, but I do see a piece of grass sticking from the side of Wilsons's mouth there.

Did they roll in something?

The look on Wilson's face in the first shot seems as if he's talking from the side of his mouth...whispering..."I think she's on to us."

:P

I'm sorry, but I cannot believe that those adorable pups smelled bad. They are just too cute!

GB, It's pretty cool. They supply the shampoo (conditioner too if you want), towels, water, and tub. ANd the best part, they clean up the mess!

Cynthia, these guys have never been to a groomer. I always thought they'd feel like I was leaving them for good. But I guess they do get used to it. Hubby's daughter used to take her Golden every two weeks and he loved it!
Happy smells to you!

Steven, you'd be surprised! :)

Heather, your comment about Wilson talking out of the side of his mouth cracked me up! It does look like that!!!
I'm not sure what they got into, but I hope it's gone!

Linda, well, yeah, we did have to go through that too, but, believe me, it was better than the other smell!

Pam, thanks. I think I'll stop spreading that rumor about them now. :)

Kelly, I'll have to post what those flowers look like today. Dead. Really. But they'll come back!

Nicky, thanks for stopping by! We are pretty lucky that way. Our old Golden had to be bathed every month too. He was worth it though!

Shabbygirl...your dogs look SOOOO FRIENDLY! I would love to hug them even if they did stink! At least they didn't get into a skunk like Scooter did...T W I C E !!! I love your dogs.

Dan, they are very friendly, although Shasta is A.L.P.H.A. to any dog. Period. Even though Willy is so much bigger than her, just a look will put him in his place.
