New Winter Flowers

It's official. I am declaring (screaming) that we have WAY TOO MUCH STUFF!! I'm not really a hoarder or anything, but if it's still good, why get rid of it, right?

I'm a little embarrased to tell you this, but I have a little mini velvet number that I wore to my junior prom! Ha! It was the only prom I ever went to, with the guy that turned out to be my first husband. Don't hate me, but it still fits! Not that I'd wear it as a dress today; a long shirt is more like it. And I have the teeny little slip that I wore underneath. Obviously, I loved that dress.

We have people coming to look at the house on Saturday. We were talking about what we would do if they loved it and wanted to move in within 30 days. Hey, it could happen. If I had time this week, I'd have a big, fat yard sale. But the only good sale day is Saturday, and I don't want stuff spread out over the driveway when they come to look.

I did manage to throw away a big stack of magazines (okay, maybe I hoard a little) that I've hung on to because they were great issues. But am I going to spend good money to STORE THEM when we take off in the building on wheels? No way. In to the trash.

That's how I am. I will hang on to something for a very long time until I feel overwhelmed. Then it's outta here!

It is good to purge once in a while. Get rid of all sorts of old stuff, clear out all those corners, recover whole rooms. Slimming down to the essentials to live in your wheeled building will be a life-changing experience!

It doesn't seem to matter how many times we de-clutter it just grows and grows. I'm not sjure I could cope with the discipline of choosing that your new life will cause. I'd have to have a separate trailer that I never opened on the back - a sort of attic on wheels.

Lovely flowers! I need to go through all my stuff. I'm afraid to look in some of my closets :)

I'm a hoarder too. Not as bad as the tv series, but it is so hard for me to get rid of something. I have stuff I wore to college, I have stuff from when I was a kid, I have my grandmas stuff. I have stuff.

Also - on my blog you asked a question about pizza dough. If you look closely at the picture you'll see that my pizza is on parchment paper. I just slide it on that onto my baking stone. Works perfect every time.

I like Scriptor's idea of the attic on wheels. ;^) That is what I would have to have!
If I lived next door, I would take your magazines. That's my hoarding weakness.

You asked me(on my blog)if there was something I wish someone had told me about full timing... really the thing I was not prepared for was before the full timing started and what you are doing now; sorting through all the stuff one collects in their home. Also deciding what to keep in the RV. It is an amazing and very time consuming journey to go through. Good luck with the sorting!

Don't you just love how you can still have a flower pot full of flowers in December!? Living in the desert too it is so fun to have them displayed out front of the house along with Christmas decor! CRAZY! And we too have snow in the hills and mountains here. I am always happy when I don't have to wear a heavy coat! although going for a bike ride gets a little chilly!

it sounds like you are in for another chapter in your life and adventure! Are you moving to another home? or storing and going on the road? That is what I would love to do...sell the homestead and buy a motorhome and travel...our children think we are NUTS!

I've spent the last few years getting rid of lots and lots of stuff. It amazed me how easy it was to go as far as I went. Mind you I still have quite a lot of stuff (what a wonderful word). In my case (and the first bears a comparison with your situation) I realised two things: when I'm living the half of my life in in New Zealand I have very little stuff and miss very little of it (just occasionally I wish that I had my kitchen gadget for making créme brulée)and when the big C was looming it seemed like a Good Idea to make things easier for Gaz when the seemingly inevitable time came.

Mind you the number of times I've needed something a week after it's gone seems quite high.
