You Guessed It!!!

It IS a tarantula hole! It's pretty early to be seeing the holes open up. Normally, it's the monsoons (July & August) that bring them out. I can only guess that the increased rain that we've had this spring confused her into thinking it was July.

I didn't post a picture of her though, because I haven't seen her. And because last year when I posted a tarantula that was walking across my driveway, it was too freaky for people. I mean, they kind of creep me out too, but since living here, I've had to move several big females that had come into the house, and one from next door. Yeah, brave me, right? I must have been having some kind of out of body experience while doing it. My body was doing the carrying, but my mind was somewhere else, I'm sure. I have seen some really beautifully colored tarantulas though, like the one at my neighbor's house.

As far as the hummers, it is migration time again, when they go through here to their northern summer homes. The photo is pretty dark, but it was dusk and it's the best lighting I could manage.

I think I'd be a bit torn between being freaked out and wanting close-up photos for my blog!

At least you can see tarantulas! The small funnelweb spiders in Australia can catch you unawares and they are really really nasty!

I'd love to see your tarantulas! I wish we had them around here, but our spiders don't get much more than two inches of skinny legs across. There was one in the house last night that kept the cats amused for hours until I booted them all outside.

ewwww, I thought it was but wasn't sure because in this desert part I haven't seen any. Probably more out into the desert than here in town. But to have them creep into my house, I think I would have a heart-attach! Honestly...I won't even get close to a roach and they can get big! SENDS SHIVERS up my back and goose bumps on my arms...! lol I think you should post a pic anyway, I thought the black one you posted was amazing!

That is when I'm so very thankful for the Northeast... snow, ice, cold. Furry-big-deep-diggin'-hole residing spiders! Yow-ee!
Thank you for sharing...
To answer your question on my post about the sketches~ it depends. Some of the detailed drawings take me 1/2 hour/45 minutes... others just a few minutes. :) I sketch them while we're watching TV as a family---- otherwise I fall asleep! ha! ha!
Hope you have a nice evening~

Shabbygirl...yep I was regretfully right! It is the old nightmare route for me tonight!

I do love the hummingbirds...I have a feeder out but they have not arrived here yet.
