Pam, over at Sidewalk Shoes, let us peek into her refrigerator today. She has a great blog about cooking, recipes, and, well, a little bit of everything.
I admit that I was impressed with how organized her fridge looks. Mine is not too bad right now because about a month ago, everything came out, old stuff thrown away, and we cleaned it down to the cracks and crevices.
She wrote today about having the habit of enjoying looking inside people's houses at dusk, when the lights in the house are on and the curtains are still open. I've done it my whole life. I just want to see what it looks like inside. Decorating, you know? I learned it from my mother. Blame her.
Pam, being the foodie that she is, wanted to see inside our refrigerators today. I'm up for that. I thought about trying to make mine look as clean and organized as hers, but then it wouldn't be real, right? So here goes...
We have many little containers of magic sauces that Hubby has whipped up, as well as leftover culinary delights! We're stocked with fresh vegetables here always (as fresh as you can get in AZ), use vegetarian, cage free eggs (no cannabolism allowed in this house), fat free milk, he likes that good-for-you fake butter in a tub, but I can't stand the smell of it (real butter for me when I use it, which is rarely), and a big fat can of pumpkin on the top shelf for our sweet doggies. Yes, friends, when we explained to the vet how HUNGRY, no, STARVING Willy was all the time, he suggested mixing plain pumpkin into his food. Makes him feel like he has more food with no more calories. I think it's working. At least he lets Shasta finish her meals.
The refrigerator door is packed with all of the weird and wonderful specialty sauces and concoctions he finds in the little out of the way groceries. Lucky for him, even the major stores are carrying some of this stuff now. The really cool thing about visiting SF occasionally, was that he could go into the tiny shops in Chinatown and come home with a bounty like nobody's business!
There you have it Pam! If I need to zoom, let me know! Happy to oblige. Check out her blog, you'll love it, I promise!

Yay! A fellow boxed wine drinker!
Great post! I've always done the same thing (drive by at night, looking inside houses) but I do it more for the structure of the house. I love the character in the old homes, especially. This was something that I (too) learned from my mom...to look inside them at night. I think she enjoyed it for the decorative sight, like you.
Thanks for reminding me of that and for sharing your fridge with us :o)
Thanks for your comment about maybe a blogging t-shirt. I'm going to have to think on that some. BTW, your fridge is so much neater than mine!
