All God's Creatures Sunday

A little visitor to our back deck. Well, not so little.

Ordinarily, I can get pretty creeped out by bugs. As in, a garbled EWW, followed by a good body shake, followed by one foot running after the other.

I'm trying this new approach, putting on my science cap, and taking a second look after my usual first response. What I'm finding is that there are some pretty interesting, and colorful bugs out there, like this one.

Very interesting looking bug. We are infested with Japanese beetles, which really are quite pretty. Kind of iridescent, but oh, so destructive. :) M

One more thing . . . how's the sore toe? I thought of you when I was putting together my article on hands.

He's beautiful! I too suffer the involuntary shiver when something like this lands on me...(or close to me haha!) But I do appreciate the diversity and beauty of all insects. Around here we have a bug that is very similar in structure and body type to this one, but drab brown in color. I think it's called a Northern Cedar Bug.

How big, really...?

I'd hate it if I found one of these on me, or indoors... On picture however, it's kind of interesting... Never saw anything like it. (I think.) ;)

I love looking at bugs, especially if I know they can't get to me.

Cool looking...but I would have to back off quite a ways while trying to inspect it...especially if I thought it was going to jump or fly....
;^)

I love bugs - and this one is super. More interesting than most of the species we have in the UK.
